When the lifts stop spinning in spring, something special starts to happen in the Yampa Valley. The snow melts, the wildflowers bloom, and Steamboat transforms into a high-altitude summer playground. Sure, we’re known for Champagne Powder® and cowboy culture—but summer here is full of unexpected surprises and wide-open adventure.

Whether you’re chasing gravity, craving sunshine, or just looking to slow down and soak it all in, there’s plenty to explore in Steamboat this summer. Here’s what’s waiting for you on the mountain:

Steamboat Bike Park Opens June 13

Gravity lovers, this is your time. With 2,000+ vertical feet of purpose-built, lift-served downhill trails, the Steamboat Bike Park delivers the kind of flow and freeride terrain that keeps you coming back for more. From fast, bermy descents to technical features and wooden elements, every trail is designed to make the most of the mountain’s natural terrain.

New to downhill riding? No worries—clinics and rentals are available, including Gravity Girls, cornering and jumping clinics, and beginner-friendly zones that help you level up your skills.

A Beverage by Burgess Creek Beach

Right at the base, Burgess Creek Beach is your spot to unwind. Grab a drink from Timber & Torch, dip your feet in the stream, and kick back on the boulders while the kids splash and play. It’s an easygoing way to soak up the season.

Guided Hikes with Brunch or Lunch

Explore Steamboat’s high-alpine beauty on foot with a guided hike led by local experts who know the mountain inside and out. Learn about the history of the valley and the plants and animals that call it home. Choose from two unique experiences: Guided Hike & Lunch, perfect for those looking to pair their trek with a casual lunch on the Oasis Sundeck, or, Guided Hike & Brunch a more upscale experience with sweeping views and a seasonal menu at the historic Hazie’s restaurant. Pick which one fits your style.

Scenic Gondola Rides

Climb above the valley and see Steamboat from a whole new angle with a summer Scenic Ride on the gondola. From the top of Thunderhead Lodge, take in panoramic views of the Yampa Valley, the Flat Tops, and endless forested peaks. Whether you’re snapping photos, heading out for a hike, or just soaking in the silence, it’s a peaceful and unforgettable way to spend time on the mountain.

Sunset Happy Hour

There’s no better way to cap off a summer day than with a gondola ride to 9,000 feet for Sunset Happy Hour. Held most Thursdays and Sundays from 5:00–8:00 PM at Thunderhead Lodge, this signature event offers panoramic views over the Yampa Valley, live music, and a full bar with light bites. It’s not just a happy hour—it’s the best seat in Steamboat to watch the sun set.

Yoga on the Mountain

There’s yoga—and then there’s Yoga on the Mountain. Breathe deep, stretch long, and find your flow at the top of Steamboat, where the views go on for miles and the fresh air lifts more than just your spirits. Whether you’re a seasoned yogi or just starting out, these mountaintop sessions are designed to restore and recharge.

Coca-Cola Movies on the Mountain

Bring a blanket and your favorite people. On select Saturday nights, the resort base turns into a starlit cinema with Coca-Cola Movies on the Mountain. It’s free, family-friendly, and full of summer classics and cult favorites. Grab snacks, find your spot, and let the mountain night set the scene.

Summer Looks Good on Steamboat

It might not be what we’re known for—but those who know, know. Summer in Steamboat brings a different kind of magic. One that trades skis for tires, gloves for yoga mats, and powder days for golden hour views. Whether you’re visiting for a weekend or posting up for the season, the mountain is alive with ways to move, connect, and unwind.

This isn’t your average summer getaway. It’s Steamboat—sun-drenched, trail-laced, and wide open.
