STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO– September 10, 2024- The Steamboat Grand Hotel is thrilled to announce the reopening of the hotel on November 22, 2024, following renovations that began on April 1, 2024. In addition to replacing the building’s original water pipe infrastructure, the hotel upgraded elevators and guest rooms, and expanded services marking significant enhancements to the guest experience.

“This was the largest renovation undertaking at the Steamboat Grand in more than 20 years and we are thrilled to be ahead of schedule and ready to welcome guests back to the hotel for winter opening day,” said Kathy Hastings, General Manager of the Steamboat Grand Hotel. “The team working on the project, our Homeowners Association and our active staff have done an incredible job supporting the work that needed to be done. As we wrap up the big work and turn our attention to readying for opening day, we’re excited to welcome back our entire hotel team and show our guests how we expanded on the level of service they have come to expect from a stay at the Steamboat Grand,”

The summer 2024 work was made possible by an investment of $25 million over two years by the Steamboat Grand Homeowners Association and a joint effort with Steamboat Ski Resort management, and local contractors to complete the project. Much of the work done was behind-the-scenes with the focus on replacing aging pipe infrastructure and installation of a state-of-the-art fire alarm system. Guests will notice public-facing improvements such as remodeled public restrooms, modernized elevators, and new exterior poolside furniture. Additionally, guest rooms, including the penthouses, will have contemporary furniture including headboards, nightstands, benches, desks, TV consoles, dressers, credenzas, and entry consoles, table refinishes, bathroom enhancements, lighting fixtures and upgraded bedding for added comfort. Over 1,640 individual pieces of furniture were replaced during the renovations.

“The Steamboat Grand property owners clearly understood the importance of this project at the outset and supported it with a $19 million special investment as well as existing reserve funds.” said Jim Webster, board president of the Steamboat Grand HOA. “The HOA board is incredibly pleased the work is being completed ahead of schedule and at less cost than the special assessment budget.  We extend our deepest thanks to the various contractors and Steamboat Ski Resort for their unwavering dedication throughout the closure. Our success reflects what can be accomplished as we continue to work together to pursue a shared vision of upscale comfort and friendly service conveniently located a short walking distance from the mountain.”

In addition to physical upgrades, the Steamboat Grand Hotel has expanded its range of services for guests. This winter, the Cabin Restaurant will offer breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late-night options; the Grand Market has been expanded to include additional lounge seating; and guests may also still enjoy access to Rocky Mountain Day Spa, daily shuttle service with expanded hours from 11 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., the Grand Sports rental shop, ski valet and storage, as well as the pool, hot tubs, and health club.
