100 Athletes and Counting
We’re a little over a week away from the Opening Ceremonies in Beijing. This year, 13 athletes with ties to the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club will be in attendance at the 2022 games, four of which are attending for the first time which brings the number of Steamboat Olympians to 100.
We look forward to cheering on these athletes representing the United States:
Robby Burns– PGS Snowboard, first appearance.
Decker Dean– Ski Jumping, first appearance.
Mick Dierdorff– Snowboardcross, second appearance (2018)
Taylor Fletcher– Nordic Combined, fourth appearance( 2010, 2014, 2018).
Olivia Giaccio– Moguls, first appearance.
Taylor Gold– Snowboard Halfpipe, second appearance (2014).
Jasper Good- Nordic Combined, second appearance (2018).
Jaelin Kauf– Moguls, second appearance (2018).
Cody Winters– PGS Snowboard, first appearance.
There are also athletes with ties to Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club attending the 2022 games who represent other countries, and they include:

Jarryd Hughes (Australia)- Snowboardcross, third appearance (2014, 2018)
Vic Wild (Russia)- PGS Snowboard, third appearance (2014, 2018)
Ester Ledecka (Czech)- PGS Snowboard/Alpine, third appearance (2014, 2018)
There will be a community celebration to kick off the games and honor Steamboat athletes on February 5 at Howelsen Hill from 5 to 6 p.m. The event will include athlete video interviews, appearances from other Steamboat Olympians, lighting of the cauldron, cupcakes, music and more.
