Each year, Steamboat Ski and Resort Corporation employees band together for a day of giving back to the community. The “United Way Day of Caring” offers the opportunity for resort employees to spend a day immersed in constructive and restorative projects within the Steamboat Springs community. This effort is a continued investment in our community and its non-profits to ensure we cultivate the mountain community and mountain experience that Steamboat guests and locals deserve. It is also a testament to our employees and their care for the community, dedicating time and effort to help give back.

“It was a great opportunity to get outside and give back to the community.”

-Tara Bonucci

On May 22nd, members from our teams fanned out around the Perry Mansfield Performing Arts School and Camp and began a day’s work helping restore and improve the campus. Participating in jobs such as weeding and stick/branch removal, mulching, pathway reconstruction and a whole lot more, we were able to improve the overall condition of the grounds and add to the rustic and western aesthetic to position this staple of our local community for a fantastic summer season and beyond.

When asked about her experience and why she participated in the Day of Caring, SSRC team member Tara Bonucci said, “It was a great opportunity to get outside and give back to the community.”

Dakota Schraufnagel, a sign maker for the resort remarked, “Meeting great new people, learning more about the fantastic area I live in and making a difference in our community is more than I could ask for.”

When all was said and done, Resort employees contributed over $6,300 in donated labor. Not only was the work being done beneficial to Perry Mansfield, but the employees also really enjoyed and appreciated this experience. This year’s Day of Caring was a great success, and we can’t wait for our next organized opportunity to positively impact our community.
