Welcome to a snowy start to the Christmas week here in Steamboat!

While it is snowing this morning and there are fresh turns to be had today, mother nature is being a bit tricky with us right now.  We are always thankful when it snows, but the current conditions are making it impossible to run a number of lifts on the mountain this morning.  It is a rare treat to enjoy a throwback ride on Priest Creek chair… today is your chance!

Lift line

Current lift choices include the Gondola, Christie Peak Express, Burgess Creek, Elkhead, Bar UE and Priest Creek.  While these lifts bring you to some great skiing, the slow lift rides really make you appreciate the network of high speed lifts Steamboat has on all parts of the mountain.  We spent our morning enjoying soft turns in the Priest Creek area on a few groomers as well as some fun turns through the aspen trees.  Last night’s storm brought some strong winds – so look for the best powder in the trees; especially those trees that block wind coming in from the northwest such as 3:30 trees, Closets and Shadows.  Twilight and 2:30 trees were good as well, but you can tell the wind had ripped through there a bit.

Skiing the trees

Look for more snow coming in throughout the day – tomorrow should be excellent skiing as well.  Pick of the mountain today is 3:30 trees – the wind buffed snow is smooth and visibility is good through the trees.

Have a great day on the mountain!
