‘Tis the Season
It’s that magical time of year that I always want to stretch as long as possible. The season for celebrating with loved ones, skiing and most definitely snow!
The slopes are in great shape this morning, and snow is on the horizon later this week. It’s a chilly morning, with humid air we hope means a white dumping is on the way. The sun may come out later today, but pack your low-light goggle lenses and gators this morning.

I did a tour of our open terrain starting with Rudi’s Run to Four Points lift. With a fresh groom, it was smooth riding. The familiar smiles of the lifties were a welcome sight at Four Points, and I was liking their Charlie Brown tree bedecked with ornaments.
My first trip down upper Rainbow was consistent and fun carving. The top of lower Rainbow is also smooth. Just be careful in the lower portion and keep your eyes peeled for obstacles.
It’s great to be riding Storm Peak face to Rainbow. If you’re looking for a little more of a leg burner, try Cyclone. The bumps are soft and forgiving, and it’s a great workout. With Tornado Lane open, you have an egress to B.C. and can also now ride Buddy’s Run all the way down. I always love a trip down Heavenly Daze to See Me at the end of the ski morning. Ski top to bottom with plenty of turns, and your quads will thank you later.

Take some time to make turns today if you can. If the snow gods deliver this week, your early-season legs will be ready. As the late, great Louise Hay was fond of saying, the universe loves grateful people, and being thankful only brings more goodness your way. If we are extra thankful for the efforts of our fab snowmaking crew, perhaps the storms this week will produce lots of the Champagne Powder® we love so much.

Until then, enjoy all of the season’s joys, including shopping local. A fun tradition is Ski Haus’s 12 Days of Christmas, and I also love Ohana for their comfy T-shirts, Daniela’s delicious house-made toffee and treats at the Homesteader, and so many more. It’s great to support all of our amazing, small, local businesses and an excuse to spend some time downtown.

Happy holidays, and have fun on the slopes!
