If I could only ski one run for the rest of my life, it would be Ted’s Ridge.

Warm air filled the Yampa Valley this morning softening the snow to a creamy, carvy dream.  A freshly-groomed Ted’s Ridge called my name like Homer’s Sirens as I flew over it in the Gondola.  I couldn’t resist the nearly untouched corduroy and perfect soft light from the rising sun dampened by light clouds.

My skis carved easily through the soft snow as I zoomed down the steeper top of Ted’s Ridge. Being the only person skiing on the run at the time, I turned it up a notch and felt the cool air across my cheeks.  As I carved down Ted’s Ridge, the run turns slightly to the right and becomes less steep. Like an airplane coming in for a landing, I used this area to slow down and check out the beautiful surroundings.

View of the Yampa Valley from Ted's Ridge

Some of my favorite Steamboat memories have been from Ted’s Ridge – from sweeping views of the Valley on those bluebird days to blasting through thigh-deep powder lap after lap on this hidden gem.  The trees on either side hold powder for days after a storm and hold some super fun nooks and crannies to explore.  If you haven’t explored Ted’s Ridge, get out there! You won’t be disappointed.

Today we kick off the 30th Annual MusicFest at Steamboat! While much of the event includes ticketed and sold out events, don’t miss the free concerts in Gondola Square starting today and continuing through Friday. Today, the Turnpike Troubadours and Jack Ingram will light up the stage with their energy. Don’t miss it!

Signing out from Ted’s,

Meghan Lutterman, Alpine skier
