Spring is in full force: The afternoons are warm, groomers are soft and the bumps are slushy. What’s been a real treat is all the fresh snow we’ve been getting. There were two powder mornings last week while Steamboat was stuck in a snow globe of swirly white.

The sun will be out this morning, but a quick storm looks to come through later today with snow falling until tomorrow afternoon. These spring storms are hard to predict. Sometimes they come in with a bunch of wind and leave quickly, while other times they sit right on top of town and dump the good stuff. Ski conditions on the hill are fantastic. The groomers on Sunnyside by Tomahawk are in prime condition while the Morningside area continues to deliver fun in the trees. Our classic bump runs down Nelson’s, Twister and Hurricane are the best place to be late afternoon as the sun is setting to the west.

Powder days keep coming

Looking toward next week, there seems to be more snow in the forecast along with sun. There’s also the 10th annual Cody’s Challenge, an uphill race that takes skiers up, down, across and then back up again. Sign up now or when you’re here next week. There’s also a free concert next Saturday by The Commonheart. Take a look at all the other festivities we have leading up to the big bang on closing day April 15. Yep, all good things come to an end.

And don’t forget to bring your bike: The roads are dry and empty.

See you in the sun, then snow.
