Steamboat’s Back Baby!
It’s been a weird year to say the least. With almost everything in our lives changing almost overnight, we’ve had to adapt to our new pandemic reality and sacrifice many of the things we enjoy the most. But after a long Eight and a half months, there is a light at the end of the tunnel. Steamboat Resort is officially open for the 2020/21 season!

Things are a little different this year, so before you come up to shred make sure you familiarize yourself with the Trail Forward so you know the new rules and can keep yourself safe. We’ve been doing it for months, so it should be pretty easy to remember that masking up and staying socially distant are the most important ways to keep yourself and our community healthy this winter. Now that we have all the safety stuff out of the way, everything else is still the same. You still want to keep your knees bent, enjoy the feel of your board(s) carving through the snow and the wind across your face.

While the temps have been great for blowing snow, we are still working with limited terrain this year. It looks like we will switch into a snowy pattern in a week or two, but for now we are limited to a few runs down from the gondola. Heavenly Daze is fully open from edge to edge and was riding really well this morning. The inch or two of snow we got last night was soft on top of the groomer and made for some really fun first turns of the season.

On top of having riding from the gondola down, the lower terrain park and halfpipe are open and ready to go. The rail/box portion of the park is set up with features for all ability levels, so remember to stay to the left if you want boxes and to the right if you want harder rails. The halfpipe is already as good as any we have had at the base in years past. It seems like the park crew made the walls a little higher this year so there is a close to vertical section for boosting above the lip.

After what seems like the longest off season in history, it’s good to be back on the snow. So make sure to savor those first turns of the year and enjoy the moment. Stay safe out there and lets have another awesome season in the Boat!
