Proceeds to benefit local environmental organizations

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-October 11, 2019— Steamboat Ski Resort will auction a limited number of retired resort trail signs to the public beginning Monday, Oct. 14 at 10 am.  Proceeds from the auction support Steamboat Ski Resort’s Environmental Fund at the Yampa Valley Community Foundation which donates $25,000 annually to non-profit environmental organizations in Routt County.

The auction will go live Monday morning at with 30 signs, measuring 72 inches by 12 inches,  starting at $50 and $10 bidding increments.

The trail sign auction closes on Thursday, October 31 at 11:59 pm. After the auction closes, winners will be notified within a week and signs must be picked up in person at the Steamboat Ski Resort Ticket Office from Nov. 4 through 10, shipping will not be available. Winning purchases can be made by cash, check, or credit card, with checks made out to Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation for collection and distribution to the environmental fund managed by the Yampa Valley Community Foundation. Purchased signs are not tax deductible.

The 27 retired trail signs were replaced during the summer of 2018, when all new trail signs were added to the mountain to improve visibility and route finding. In addition to the public auction, Steamboat gave away trail signs to employees during last year’s pre-season staff meeting and will continue the giveaway at this year’s pre-season meeting. Employees will receive additional information about this year’s sign giveaway closer to the pre-season meeting.
