Shoulder Surgery Success!
Today marks recovery day #5, and I’m feeling fantastic. For the fact that Steamboat is a ski and adventure destination, the number of top-rate orthopedic surgeons in this town is impressive. I have worked with Dr. Andreas Sauerbrey throughout my ski racing career, and he has done an impeccable job of putting me back together every time I need. Surgery technology is advancing with everything else in our world, and I was extremely satisfied with my experience throughout.
I’ve already gotten out for short walks to breath our fresh Rocky Mountain air. As I look up towards the ski resort, memories from this season flood my brain. Although it seems to have flown right by, I’m happy for the great days of powder and groomer skiing I had this winter. The images of blue sky, evergreen trees and pristine white snow are colors and beauty only Mother Nature can create.
Now is the time we must be patient with Spring. The majority of us love to squeak the most out of winter, and continue to skin up the mountain after the resort closes, but as the spring squalls continue to bring measurable snowfall–especially at higher elevations. Others of us head west and south with a camper, as many bikes as possible, shorts and flip flops.
I will stay put, focusing on my shoulder, and turning my energy towards my favorite summer pastime, horseback riding. Sir Axel Rose will get all the attention turned to him as our riding arena dries out.
Today’s Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert features Flow Tribe. Sounds like a high-energy group that’s sure to get your feet movin’ and groovin’. If you make it to the base this afternoon, please be smart, safe, and dance a song for me!
