Changing things up for the summer season, Steamboat Ski Resort announced the Steamboat Mountain Music Free Summer Concerts featuring Pimps of Joytime on July 8 and BoDeans playing July 22.

“Steamboat is known for hosting incredible live music events, and this summer we are partnering with Jack Daniel’s Honey to step up our game with two large-draw bands,” said Katie Brown, vice president of sales and marketing for Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. “Between summer activities in the base area, hiking and biking, and Movies on the Mountain, the base area has become a hub of summer activities. Free concerts with Pimps of Joytime and BoDeans are another reason to bring the family up to the resort this summer.

The summer concerts kick off July 8 with Brooklyn-based Pimps of Joytime, known for their artful blend of musical styles, including elements of New Orleans funk, 90s club house, 60s salsa and hip-hop. Over the past decade, the group’s grass-roots following mobilized from the underground club scene to sell out historic venues, like the Fillmore in San Francisco, and showcase at festivals across the U.S. and Europe. Their new LP, Jukestone Paradise, has been dubbed “raucous and captivating” by Okayplayer, and their live shows prove the band knows how to throw a party.

July 22 brings BoDeans to the Steamboat Stage. Long known as one of the best live acts in the business, BoDeans has been playing and recording for nearly 30 years. The group’s songs played heavily on radio, TV shows and movies and defined a sound that a generation embraced with hits including “Good Things,” “All the World” and “Closer to Free.” Their reputation for delivering a dynamic live show led to support slots with U2, Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Tom Petty, David Bowie and more. The band released their latest album, “I Can’t Stop,” in April 2015.

“The goal of our concert series in summer and winter is bringing bands that create a fun, lively atmosphere for guests,” said John Waldman of Great Knight Productions and co-producer for Steamboat Mountain Music Free Summer Concerts “The music of Pimps of Joytime and BoDeans will have everyone from die-hard fans to new listeners on their feet and dancing.”

Each concert starts at 7pm on the Steamboat Stage in Gondola Square. The Bear River terrace provides the ultimate viewing location for the summer concert series, presented by Jack Daniel’s Honey and Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp. For more information, check out
