Perfect day for lunchtime turns
The sun is out. The snow is soft. And another storm is on the way.
These sunny, bluebird days are some of my favorite of the season. Today, I cruised groomers, soaked in the expansive views of the Yampa Valley and let all my worries melt away. It’s a great day to be out on the mountain.
We’ve had some chilly mornings lately, so I waited a bit later to head up on the hill today. No fresh corduroy at 10 a.m., but the snow surface is great for carving big turns and trusting your edges.
I headed straight for the top of Storm Peak and started my morning with a lap down Buddy’s Run. The blue groomer was still waiting for the first rays of sunshine this morning, so I ducked across Calf Roper and headed to one of my favorites: Rainbow. As soon as I skied into the sunshine, I couldn’t help but smile. I also hit upper Vagabond and Eagle’s Nest before heading back to the base.
Today is a perfect day for some lunchtime turns. There are no lift lines anywhere on the mountain, and I had most runs to myself. The sun is out, and the snow is holding up great. Even better, the fresh stuff is back in the forecast tonight and through the weekend.
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts.
