Position will oversee the resort’s Base Area and Hotel Operations

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-October 28, 2019— Steamboat Ski Resort has hired Katy Hastings, a 17+ year Food & Beverage industry professional, as the resort’s new Director of Food & Beverage for base area and hotel operations. Hastings will be responsible for overseeing Timber & Torch, Gondola Joes, Gnarly Charly’s and Rye in the resort base area; The Cabin, The Bistro, The Grand Café and banquets at the Steamboat Grand Hotel; and Haymaker’s day and night dining.

Overseeing eight restaurants and the Steamboat Grand banquets department is no easy feat, and we know that Kathy will step up to the challenge and champion the resort’s food & beverage strategies.”

In her new role, Hastings will be responsible for overseeing all facets of the resort’s base area and hotel dining operations including developing long-term strategies and operation plans to keep Steamboat Ski Resort restaurants at the forefront of industry excellence. Additionally, she will oversee restaurant teams, menu development and pricing, identifying and executing capital budget planning and projects, and working with other Ski Corp. departments to drive business. Hasting will work closely with Christina Gumbiner, the resort’s director of food & beverage for mountain operations, to create a cohesive experience across all resort dining properties.

Hasting has been director food & beverage operations at major hotels since 2005, covering locations from Canada to Colorado. She began her career with Hyatt in roles ranging from Room Services Manager to Banquet Manager. From there, Hastings began her leadership roles as the Food and Beverage Director at the Hyatt Regency in Calgary, AB. She then went on to lead the F&B teams at Hyatt properties in Kansas City, MO, Beaver Creek, CO, and Seattle, WA. Most recently, she was the Director of Food & Beverage for the JW Marriot Denver where she oversaw three restaurants, in-room dining, and more than 9,000 square feet of function space.

Hastings relocated from Denver and began her new role on October 24, 2019.
