STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, CO-November 4, 2015-Karen Schneider has been named the new director of sales for resort and hotel overseeing all sales responsibilities for the Steamboat Ski Resort and the Steamboat Grand Hotel. Prior to taking on the resort functions, Schneider served in her current capacity as director of sales for the Steamboat Grand since 2006.

“We have worked hard to cultivate individuals within the company to assume leadership roles and I’m excited for the new opportunities presented to Karen as she expands her career within the organization,” said Katie Brown, vice president of sales and marketing for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation. “With a wealth of knowledge, a passion for success and strong customer relations, Karen will ensure Steamboat remains at the forefront for sales and a leader within the industry.”

In her new combined role, Schneider will be responsible for all sales aspects for the resort and hotel across all channels including FIT (frequent independent travelers), group & conference, wholesale and online travel agencies as well as direct consumer facing programs including consumer shows, specialty groups and events.  She will oversee the sales managers as well as work with the team at Steamboat Central Reservations® on sales initiative associated with its online booking channel and other consumer facing sales programs.

Karen Schneider brings a distinguished 35-year background in the travel, leisure hospitality industry sales and marketing arena with extensive experience in direct sales campaigns to her new role as director of sales for resort and hotel. Her career has taken her from large, specialty group events to award-wining hotels & resorts as well as travel services from coast to coast.

Before joining the Steamboat Grand in 2006, she held the position of on-site manager for The Rock Slope and Steamboat Wine Festival, two large, specialty groups. Her prior experience also including sales manager for the Steamboat Ski & Resort Corporation; sales manager of the Steamboat Grand; co-owner of a large travel agency in California; and, a meeting planner for a large investment bank in New York City.

She has been honored with several awards during her career and donates her time and expertise to charitable organizations in the Steamboat Springs community. She currently serves as chair of the Yampa Valley Medical Center Foundation and on the executive committee for Destination Colorado.

Schneider holds a Bachelor’s Degree from Cal State LA and will assume her new role effective immediately, reporting directly to Katie Brown, vice president of sales and marketing for the resort.
