Summer in Steamboat is a very special time of year, and celebrating our nation’s independence while you’re here makes it that much more incredible. Welcome to one of my favorite weeks of the season!

The mountain base area is booming with activity about now. I strolled my cruiser bike through gondola square last evening to see a flurry of fun, family games taking place. Seemed like everywhere I turned it was either kids beating their parents at putt-putt, or moms and dads soaking their feet in Burgess Creek. So, of course, we know that the mountain area is a great place to adventure and explore right now.

But come this Thursday, downtown Mainstreet Steamboat will be the place to be for the traditional 4th of July Parade and Fireworks. Our Cowboy Roundup Days Celebration kicks off with a community pancake breakfast from 7-9:30am. The parade, which features floats from all over town to the delight of spectators lining Lincoln Avenue, starts at 10am proper.

If you’ve never caught a live rodeo, consider grabbing some tickets to the Steamboat Springs Pro Rodeo Series, which takes place at Romick Arena at 6:30pm. And from there, enjoy the dazzling spectacle that is the Steamboat Springs Fireworks Show beginning at 9:30pm and followed by a laser light show.

By the time Friday rolls around, you’ll be ready for Friday Family Fun Day at the Steamboat Base Area. Enjoy Happy Hour from 4-7pm with The Land Up activities operating in full swing.

So here’s to the arrival of July and the long days still ahead. Enjoy the festivities and live life to the fullest.
