Good morning from a crystal clear blue bird day in the Boat!  The calendar says February, but this weather says March.  It is a calm and comfortable morning on Mt Werner and the skiing is pretty dang nice today, much better than I expected.  Although I prefer to ski fresh snow, days like this are certainly not to be missed.

The weather is honestly perfect.  No wind, comfortable temps, clear sky, sun… the works.  What a great day to be skiing in the Yampa Valley!  No need for that heavy winter coat today; keep it light, grab your sunny lenses and some sunscreen and soak up this excellent weather.

The snow conditions were a bit variable today, but better than I expected.  The groomers were in great condition for the most part, especially on north and northwest facing slopes.  South facing runs were decent too, and west facing runs were a bit firm today.  I would keep it to the groomers until it warms up, the trees and bumps definitely need some love from the sun before they are ready.  The corduroy was fairly consistent today allowing for hard carving turns into the decently soft snow.

It is a picture perfect day to enjoy some skiing in Steamboat.  The weather couldn’t be better, and it is your last chance to ski some uncrowded runs before the holiday weekend hits.  The sun is warming things up quickly and you will likely feel like you are on spring break today as the blue bird weather should be with us all day long.

Pick of the mountain today is Lower Rainbow: This run held the softest snow we found this morning and it was wide open for fast corduroy turns first thing today.  Make sure you get to the mountain early when the corduroy is in perfect condition.

Have a great day on the mountain!
