Choose Your Adventure
There are so many things to do on the mountain. A beginner, intermediate, advanced or even aspiring backcountry skier can find something they’re going to like.
Our groomers are laying down beautiful carpets of white for beginner and intermediate skiers looking for smooth rides off the Christie, Sundown and Sunshine lifts. There are ample bumps to be found if you want to push yourself a bit. Advanced skiers will keep challenged with Storm Peak face, Triangle Trees, Hurricane, White Out and the Chutes. That’s right, the chutes are open, and that’s where we ventured this morning.
After a quick ski down to the Morningside lift, we found ourselves looking down the gut of Chute One and out toward Sleeping Giant. It’s worth coming up this way just to take in the scenery. Chute One snow was packed but soft enough to get an edge in. Skier’s left toward the top had soft snow and then about halfway down I bumped over to skier’s right where I found an untouched line of fluffies.
From the bottom of Chute One, we wanted to check out the hike-to terrain by Pony. This is where the aspiring backcountry skier can find solitude with mixed conditions and challenging terrain. The snow was soft in areas and packed in others. Throw in a few natural obstacles, and you’ve got an adventure. The views were fantastic, and there was noone else around. We had the whole place to ourselves.
Skiing is our passion, but there’s so much else to do while here. Check out our upcoming events from free concerts to meet-and-greets with Olympians. Have fun out there, and happy new year!
