Spring is in high gear. The days are warm and sunny and the evening light lasts longer every day. As a bonus, we’ve been getting fresh snow, too. There was a storm last week, it snowed the past two days, and there’s more on the way tomorrow.

The mountain is skiing great. The groomers up top are smooth in the morning with soft snow to get an edge into. As the sun warms things up, the bumps loosen up, and around 10:30 or 11 a.m., it’s game-on down Nelson’s, Twister and White Out. If you’re searching for all-out fun in the sun, all the intermediate runs off the Sunshine Express lift are in top-notch form.

Yeah the skiing is ideal, but don’t forget your bikes. Yeah bikes, as in road bike, gravel bike and a snow-crushing fat bike. All of these can be ridden before or after a ski on the mountain. It dumped snow yesterday until 1 p.m., and then the sun came out to dry up the roads, so a few of us took to the road on bikes for a loop out to Oak Creek. Then all the new snow formed up well overnight making the groomers ideal for fat biking this morning. If that’s not enough, the gravel is in perfect shape in between storms. You can ride up Buff Pass or spin to the west around Sleeping Giant. Lots of options.

It’s spring! Soak up some sun, take a few extra moments to check out the scenery, and enjoy the day in more ways then we can count.
