The much anticipated first wave of storms hitting greater Colorado have arrived this morning in the Yampa Valley. With 4″ inches reported at 5 am and several more stacking up through this morning, conditions are cold and very snowy. The snowpack is firm underneath, yet softening up as the snows build. Forecast are calling for up to three feet over the next several days to dump over Steamboat. Temperatures continue to stay cold this morning with a Summit Temp of 4° and base Temp of 9°. Skiers and riders are making turns on a 77″ summit base and 57″ base at mid-mountain. Storms are expected to last several days with a winter storm advisory issued until Saturday. It’s currently snowing heavily across all of the mountain. Have fun out there!
