Oh, hey there, winter. We missed you while you have been on an extended beach vacation lately, but thanks for coming back!

If you called the 5 a.m. report this morning, you may have hit the snooze bar and stayed in bed. But if you checked the live powder cam, (which you should ALWAYS check) you probably jumped out of bed because it was absolutely dumping this morning. Quite a few inches piled up fast in the early hours giving us the first real powder day of 2015, and it has been a good one out there.

Powder skiing

We sampled fresh tracks this morning from all over the mountain: Sundown, Storm, Morningside and Pony. Everything is getting filled in nicely, and there are plenty of fresh tracks to be found everywhere.

There is no need to give you a long-winded report today because I feel these photos tell you everything you need to know about the new snow. It’s fresh, it’s fluffy, and it is still coming down hard out there!

Many of our best days for new snow this season have been falling on Mondays, so you might want to talk to your boss about canceling those Monday-morning meetings.

Deep powder

Pick of the mountain is No Names. That is my favorite zone in the ski area, and wow it was good today. Deep, steep and untracked.

The snow keeps piling up, so grab your powder boards and get up here! There is plenty more snow headed our way this week in that glorious northwest flow that treats Steamboat so well: check out the forecast here.
