Third Day’s the Charm
If you’re reading this, that means you are probably not up on the mountain right now. If you aren’t up there, drop whatever you are doing and get up there. With 3 days in a row of double digit totals, the conditions couldn’t be deeper! Over the last week, the complexion of the mountain has completely changed from promising, early season conditions to epic, mid-winter powder. That doesn’t mean everything is open or completely covered, but it does mean it’s about as good as it gets this time of year!
I started my day on the Sundown side of the mountain with a rare experience: first tracks down Rolex! This was a first for me, and even though it wasn’t groomed before the snow started falling, there is plenty of powder up there to soften up those bumps.
With barely anyone on the mountain this morning, you can pretty much pick and choose any run you want without running into too many tracks. I had great knee-deep turns down Priest Creek lift line and through the trees in Twilight.
I didn’t make it up to Morningside or to East Face today, but based on the last few days, I’m sure it’s deep. With such great snow, it’s hard to pick one part of the mountain that stood out from the rest. But if I had to choose, I would tell you to head into Closet this afternoon. Even after a few hours of ravenous locals feasting on the fresh pow, there were still untracked lines in the trees. There you have it, everything is great! So get off your computer, get up to the mountain and get your share!
