Exceptional Day After
Anyone who follows our snow report or Colorado ski conditions in general knows that we got massively dumped on Friday and Saturday. So here it is Sunday, and the sun is shining brightly through. But don’t let the blue skies fool you into thinking that all of the powder is gone.
With the Sundown chairlift now open, I first skied the accessible terrain of Sundown Lift Line and Kuus’ Cruise. The leftover powder in this area was immaculate. Here’s where you’re going to find a load of stashes left untouched by yesterday’s go-getters. Well worth the venture if you’re interested in seeking out the fresh.
The other section of the mountain I was able to find a plethora of puffed up flaky snow was down Flying Z. Hike-to access was open to the top of Morningside, which will give you a few extra vertical feet of run. But whether you hike to the top or cut over from the top of Buddy’s Run, the pockets of fluff you’ll find below are skiing incredibly well.
Generally speaking, the vistas are gorgeous and the snow is some of the best I’ve skied this season so far. Main dragways like Rainbow, Rudi’s Run and Heavenly Daze are all pristinely groomed. Carving deep, full arc turns on these slopes is effortless and exhilarating. I suppose it wouldn’t be too far of a stretch to say that no matter where you ski today you’re going to have a blast. So enjoy the terrain and keep wishful thinking for more snow to come.
